The Arizona Music Educators Association offers an opportunity for some of our top string musicians in the area to audition for the All-Regional Orchestra in January. To prepare for this audition, students must know 18 three octave scales by memory, learn 3 excerpts (provided to students on google classroom), and sight read a piece of music. Here at CVHS, I believe that we have many talented students who have a great chance of making the All-Regional Orchestra. This year, to promote Regionals and encourage more of our talented students to try out, I will be hosting audition workshops (for ALL instruments) after school. I will help students with scales, sight reading, and the excerpts.
The Regional audition fee is $25 (to be paid in November if they sign up to audition). Auditions are held on January 24th or January 25th (times/days TBD in December).
Workshops will be held in the Orchestra room on the following Mondays from 2:25 – 2:55 PM:
August 12 and 26
September 9, 16, and 23
October 21 and 28
November 4 and 25
December 2
January 13
I hope to see more of our students audition this year! 🙂
In addition to this, many of the local community colleges around the valley offer FREE Regional Audition prep workshops. If your child is interested, see this flyer for a free workshop held at Ben Franklin High School on August 17.
Thank you,
